Hi 👋 I’m Zack Khan, and I’m looking for a new opportunity as a product manager
Directed Bitcamp, the largest hackathon on the east coast. Key metrics: 1300+ attendees, raised $200,000, implemented new programs for entrepreneurs and designers and branding campaign for new "Mark Your Trail" theme
Created and taught a for-credit course on Reinforcement Learning (CMSC389F) within the UMD Computer Science department. I created course content, lecture weekly, and graded weekly problem sets and projects.
Startup Shell is a student-run incubator of $40M+ in collective value. As Director of Community for Shell, I organize events and initiatives for members of our diverse community of entrepreneurs
Handshake's mission is to democratize opportunity, allowing all students to have equal access to jobs. As a growth engineer, I helped develop a referrals program that incentivized students to refer each other to join Handshake.
As an organizer of Technica, the world's largest all-women hackathon, I learned after speaking with previous attendees that many users were not familiar with Slack, our main medium for mentorship. In response, I created a feature within our mobile app that allows attendees to ask questions via an easy-to-use form. The backend server then posts the question to Slack, through which a team of mentors can claim and meet the attendees in-person to answer their question (React Native, Node JS)
Loneliness is a huge issue, especially on a large campus like UMD. I created an app to pair people for meals at diners, so no one has to eat alone if they don't want to. (React Native)
Created an AR scavenger hunt game (3rd place, PennApps),
a smart gun (Winner, HackUVA),
a holographic virtual assistant (3rd place, a16z Battle of the Hacks),
and a VR drawing experience for Phillips Collection museum in DC
Currently working on a paper that proposes a domain-specific approach to question generation, incorporating knowledge about a given domain to generate more relevant questions. Project draft can be found here.
Developed Kodactive, a platform for teaching students Computer Science using programmable toys. We gave workshops to local schools and won 3rd place at Maryland Do Good Challenge, 2nd place at UMD Fishbowl Entrepreneurship Competition.
